Shamrocks 5-10, Ibane Gaels 5-3
Shamrocks were tight on numbers for this game and had to call up some u12s but they certainly did themselves proud with a great display of hurling in Timoleague on Friday night. Shamrocks were always in control of this game and should really have won by more but as it was their first league game, there was a bit of rustiness at times.
While everyone made vital contrubitions all through, it would be remiss not to mention Adam McSweeney at full forward who scored 4 goals from play in the game. He had Shamrocks on top early on with two quick goals and with the half back line on top, the forwards got plenty of ball to play with. At halftime, Shamrocks led 3-6 to 2-2.
The second half featured Shamrocks mostly in control. They went 11 points up midway through but Ibane Gaels struck for 2 quick goals at the other end to bring it back to a 6 point game. Shamrocks played out the rest of the game to register their first win of the hurling season.
Thanks to all for making the journey to Timoleague twice in the space of a week. The numbers as mentioned for hurling unfortunately are tight with so many withdrawls so this win was a big boost for everyone involved. Hurling training next Tuesday night at 6.45pm
