U12 FL V Lee Gaels – 20/8

Lee Gaels 3-2, Shamrocks 1-3

Shamrocks travelled to Dripsey this afternoon to complete their 2016 u12 Football League programme. Their opponents were physically stronger than Shamrocks in most positions but in fairness to the lads, they never gave up. In fact, had they taken a number of good chances in both halves, they could have come away with an unlikely victory.

Two goals in a minute midway through the first half were ultimately the difference between the teams. Shamrocks did fight back to score 1-1 before half time to reduce the margin to 1 goal.

The second half was hard fought and though Shamrocks only scored 2 points, they certainly held our own and at times had their oponents on the rack. Unfortunately, a couple of injuries (we had no subs!) and Lee Gaels ability to introduce fresh legs swayed the game in their favour.

Shamrocks are almost certain to qualify for the semi-final and this game will have taken them on a good bit. Thanks to grand-parents, parents, family members and friends for travelling.

Panel – Josh Bartlett, Sam Foy, Declan Carroll, Robert Barrett, Michael Foy, Dara McCormick, John Coleman, Ferdia Hayes, Fionn Herlihy, Conor Coleman, Eoin O’Flynn, Cian Lynch.
