Congratulations Mr President

This week we send many congratulations and well done to our esteemed Club president Mr. Michael Brennan on winning a national award in Galway last week.
Michael is a prominent member of The Rockies Indoor Bowls Team in Cork. Over five days last week a national tournament took place in Galway, organised and sponsored by The Galway Bay Hotel.
There were thirty two teams from all over Ireland entered for this national event. Michael was a member of the Rockies team. It was a four person team consisting of two men and two women.

After five days of contests and earnest endeavour, The Rockies from Cork were the outright winners and number one in Ireland. Well done to Michael and his colleagues and we in Shamrocks are very proud of our President’s national achievement.

Michael and his family have long and historic links with Shamrocks, going away back to the early days. His father, Abie, was the man credited with putting football on the map in our Club and captained Shamrocks in 1923 to win the Intermediate County title and move the team into the senior ranks. Later he went on to be the first Shamrock man to be Chairman of the South East Board and he was also a prominent Referee.

Michael was an excellent hurler himself and lined out with Carrigdhoun in the Senior ranks.
He has been a past Chairman of the Club and he has always been very prominent in Fund-raising whenever the call goes out. The Club is very proud and honoured to have a person of Michael’s calibre elected to the post of President.
