Shamrocks 5-10, Courcey Rovers 0-2
Shamrocks got back on winning ways against Courcey Rovers on Saturday afternoon in the football league, to register their first league victory of the year. Shamrocks were on top from the moment the ball was thrown in.
Courcey Rovers were severly depleted due to hurling commitments but at the same time, some of the Shamrocks scores were a joy to behold, in particular the points scored in the first half while playing up the hill and against the wind. The forwards were able to put some nice moves together, thanks to a solid midfield platform. Barry Mulqueen, the ever lively Joe Shanahan, Darragh Scriven, Brian Sweeney, David Hayes among others were able to capitalise on the possession and added on the scores both sides of the break. Shamrocks led 2-6 to 0-1 at HT.
The second half brought 4 changes for Shamrocks but the pattern of the game emained the same. Courcey Rovers battled on but this game petered out to its inevitable conclusion as Shamrocks totally dominated. Training continues this week.
