U12 Hurling V Lisgoold – 6/4

Lisgoold 10-7, Shamrocks 0-4

Shamrocks u12 hurlers made the trip to Lisgoold on Saturday afternoon and once again Shamrocks had to play against a team who were bigger, older, play at a higher grade and were simply better hurlers.

The scoreline was a bit flattering to the home side; however, this doesnt take away from the gulf in hurling class between the teams. All the Shamrocks players tried their heart out for the whole game and indeed the second half effort was much better all round. However, these lads simply have to be encouraged to practice their hurling at home, down the village, against a wall, wherever they get a chance. One hour a week up at the pitch is not enough.

The three mentors afterwards were happy with the application while at the same time realising that there is lots of hurling work ahead. Numbers are very tight so we need as many at training as possible.

Next game is Saturday April 20th at home against Dripsey, 12pm. Hurling training the next 2 Wednesdays at 6pm and next Saturday 11.30am, same time as the Academy. The lads would like to include anyone from 9 years old up in the training.

Thanks to all the parents who made the trip down East.

Panel: Harry Andrews, Evan Seymour, Jody Sisk, Dylan Gregson, Dylan O’Flaherty, Robert Van Pelt, Seán Andrews, Mark Sisk, Seán Browne, Shane Donegana, Luke O’Driscoll.
