John Kerins Memorial Tournament – 11/6

Shamrocks under 11 footballers played in the annual John Kerins Memorial Tournament in Pairc Ui Rinn on Saturday 11th of June. This was a new experience for most of these lads to play in such a big arena with such a large crowd watching on. We were drawn against Whitechurch in the semi final while our neighbours Passage were paired with Mayfield in the other semi final. We got off to the worst possible start and conceded two early goals to a strong Whitechurch side who were defending their title. The score at half time read Whitechurch 2-2 Shamrocks 2 points courtesy of Cillian Hayes and Dylan O Flaherty.

Shamrocks started brightly in the second half and scored three points without reply but unfortunately for the lads were unable to get that all important goal to draw level. Whitechurch scored a late goal to clinch a place in the final which they went on to win for the second year in a row. Final score Whitechurch 3-2 Shamrocks 5 points. Well done to all involved. Best on the day for Shamrocks were captain Cathal Murphy and Sean Andrews.

Players on duty were David Murphy, Cathal Murphy, Evan Seymour, Michael Hammet, Daniel O Mahony, Shane Downey, Cillian Hayes, Dylan O Flaherty, David Fox, Sean Browne, Seán Andrews. Luke O Driscoll. Jody Sisk. Cillian O Mahony and Harry Andrews
