Shamrocks 3-5, Whites Cross 2-9
Once again the under 13 footballers were involved in a thriller and once again they came out on the wrong side of a single point defeat. The game started at a brisk pace with some end to end action but very little scoring; Whitescross were first on the scoreboard and took a three point lead before the lads hit back with two points but Whitescross got another two points and then on the stroke of halftime David O’Sullivan scored a goal to level the game on a score line of 1-02 to 0-05.
We brought on Stephen Fox for his debut and he scored a great goal to give us the lead but again Whitescross got two points to keep them in touch; Shamrocks then got a goal and a point to stretch the lead but Whitescross came back and scored a goal to keep only two points between the teams. We then scored two more points and in the last few minutes Whitescross scored another goal and point to level the game and in the final minute Whitescross got a point to take the lead and run out winners on a score line of 3-05 to 2-09.
It was a great game to watch. The team was Cory Caffrey, Eoin Horgan, Cormac Scriven, Joseph O’Keeffe, Criostoir Corkery, David Barry, Mark Hitchmough, Daniel Carroll, David O’Sullivan, Christopher Hayes, Ruairi Meighan and Killian Murphy. Subs used were Adam Jones, David Howard, David Andrews, Andrew O’Grady, Stephen Fox and Shane Flavin.
The only problem now seems to be in the new underage structure, that’s the end of the under 13 football season and its not even April yet. Anyway, more information will hopefully be forthcoming at the meetings, along with hurling fixtures.
