U16 FL V Courcey Rovers – 30/3

Shamrocks 3-11, Courcey Rovers 0-5

Shamrocks got their second win of the season after a scoring blitz in the second half in Shanbally on Saturday afternoon. The sides were very much even in the first half with Courcey Rovers edging it 0-5 to 0-3 at HT, Shamrocks playing up the pitch in the first half in perfect conditions. The Shamrocks players turned in a much better display in the second half and some early scores including 2 goals gave them a cushion. They drove on to record the victory in the end. An accomplished display from the 13 players on view with plenty of players getting on the scoreboard and the backs and goalkeeper in control throughout. A mini break now for hurling in April. Well done to all.

U16 FL V Lisgoold – 16/3

Shamrocks 4-10, Lisgoold 0-2

Shamrocks u16 footballers recorded the first win on the newly redeveloped top pitch in Shanbally with this comfortable win over Lisgoold on Saturday afternoon last. Shamrocks played into a strong wind in the first half and registered the first scores on the redeveloped pitch – Harry Andrews had the honour of the first score (a point) while Robert Barrett had the honour of the first goal. Shamrocks were in control against the wind and led 2-5 to 0-0 at HT.

The second half was similar with Shamrocks rotating their players throughout; Lisgoold played better football in this half also. It was a routine win in the end with all players making a contribution.

U14 FL V Tracton – 9/3

Shamrocks 4-10, Tracton 2-5

Shamrocks played their first game of the 2019 season at home to Tracton last Saturday. Both teams were missing some players due to various reasons. Both teams started well and the score was level at 1-02 a piece after 15 minutes. Shamrocks then opened up a 5 point lead but some Tracton scoresbefore the break had us leading by 2-04 to 1-05 at the break.

After half time we upped the pace and got some great scores from play to leave us winning at the final whistle on a score line of 4-10 to 2-05.
