JAFL V Ballygarvan – 21/2

Ballygarvan 0-14, Shamrocks 1-10

A spirited performance by Shamrocks at Liam McCarthy Park, in a close game where there was little between the teams throughout the contest. Ballygarvan kicked the winner in the final minute and were it not for some wayward shooting Shamrocks could have fared better.

Shamrocks led 1-5 to 0-7 at the break and were first to score in both halves. With some more time on the training pitch, we can look forward to better days ahead.

Sean Andrews

The Club extends hearty congratulations to Sean Andrews who was a member of The St. Francls College Rochestown Team, that won the Tom Cullum Cup final at Pairc Ui Rinn last Saturday.
The game which was played before the Harty Cup Final, saw Rochestown defeat Hamilton High School Bandon and win their first Munster Hurling Title ever in front of over 7000 people. They will now go on to play the Cannaught representatives in the All Ireland Semi-Final.
Sean lined out at corner forward and was on the scoresheet early in the game when Rochestown  asserted themselves and let 1 -3 to 0 -1, thus giving them the momentum and confidence to stay the course and make college history.
It was a great day for Rochestowh College and our own Club Shamrocks too.

First Aid/Defibrillator Training Course

Well done to the participants who completed the first aid/defibrillator training course run by the club on Saturday February 2nd. Thanks to Peter from the Irish Red Cross who facilitated the course and to John Twomey (Ringaskiddy) who organised. Thanks also to the FBI who provided a lovely breakfast for all. The rest of the members who were not there on Saturday morning will be trained up in an outside course ensuring that Shamrocks will have plenty people ready and waiting in case of emergencies.
