JHL V Tracton – 28/4

Tracton 3-11, Shamrocks 0-8

Sixteen players were available for duty at Shanbally on Friday evening for our very first Junior Hurling game of the Season. Postponements and the outstanding success of our Under 21 Footballers put hurling on the back foot. So at last we had our lads swinging their camans for the very first time this season. It will take a few games to remove the rustiness and to sharpen the eye and no doubt we will be a match for any opposition.  Visitors, Tracton, with a number of games under their belt were sharp and in good hurling form and were deserving winners.

Tracton led 1-5 to 0-5 at the break. On the turnover, aided by the breeze, they engineered a comfortable lead. Our lads, some of them in action for the third time in six days put in a credible effort and we must fully acknowledge this. Hurling is back in the frame and it is good to hear the clash of the ash in Pairc Tadgh O’h-Ainnlaoi again.
