Shamrocks 7-13, St Catherines 3-8
Shamrocks are through to the semi final of the u14 C grade chamopionship after a fully deserved win over St Catherines on Wednesday evening last. This was their second time this year making the trip to Ballynoe and they made it a winning one on both occasions.
The real groundwork for this victory was laid in the first half as Shamrocks totally dominated and played some lovely football to open up a 4-7 to 0-4 lead apprioaching HT. The home side gave themselves some hope with 2-1 scored just as halftime approached. The score at the break was Shamrocks 4-7, St Catherines 2-5.
Shamrocks knuckled down in the second half and controlled matters. A couple of early scores settled them down and the subs made valuable contributions when introduced. All in all it was a solid team performance overall with patches of wonderful football played at times. Well done to all and to the parents/supporters who made the trip once again into East Cork and roared on the lads all through. The semi final against Lisgoold will be played hopefully early next week, further details to follow.
