JAFC Quarter Final V Ballygarvan – 30/6

Ballygarvan 1-11, Shamrocks 1-4

Another disappointing evening for the Club and its supporters, with our Junior Footballers failing to advance in the championship played in Belgooly.

Shamrocks were poor and indecisive throughout the game and on the night their opponents were but a shadow of their great team of a few years ago. With any reasonable amount of form and zeal the game was their for Shamrocks. However, the form was flat and well removed from what was required to win a championship game.

Shamrocks scored one point in the first half and registered a goal when the Ballygarvan ‘keeper was adjudged to have carried the ball over the line. Ballygarvan registered five points with only one from play.

Despite the best exhortations from Coach Mark Hickey the second half was flat and lacked any real conviction. We must credit our backline players and goalkeeper who kept the opposition under control for most of the game, but on the other side of the field very little happened.

Poor finishing and wasteful kicking up front was the order of the day, unfortunately.
